Sylvia Haynie (DIRECTOR) has been so proud of the many shows, both mainstage and youth-oriented that she and wife, Laura Voss have been able to direct for Macon Little Theatre. Sylvia’s parents were huge supporters of theatre and directors in their own right in Hawkinsville, Georgia. So, it’s no surprise that both her children (JP Haynie & F. Haynie) have followed along with careers in the theatre arts. JP (MLT’s Artistic Director) and his wife Ashlee actually met because Sylvia had directed Ashlee in several shows (including the 2007 production of BEAUTY and the BEAST) and thought she might be the perfect daughter-in-law! Now Ashlee and JP have a beautiful daughter of their own, Lumi, who will be making her acting debut in her Nanny, Laura and Dammaw, Sylvia’s big show. And what Disney memory could be better than that?
Laura Voss (MUSIC DIRECTOR) is thrilled to again be sharing the directing chores with her wife, Sylvia Haynie, and collaborating with her son, JP who designed the set, lights, special effects and serves as MLT Artistic Director. She’s also pleased to be working with such a talented cast and loves the energy and sound they bring to this production. She and Sylvia have co-owned the Academy of the Performing Arts since 2004 and recently directed MLT’s summer blockbuster, Legally Blonde alongside choreographer Jenny Morris. Together with Haynie, Laura co-directed Disney’s Descendants back in June, which was the seventeenth summer MLT Kids Camp collaboration with the APA. Ms. Voss recently retired after being a band director for 39 years and plans to spend more time with her beautiful granddaughter, Lumi (who is appearing as Baby with a Lady in this show.) Sharing the stage with her talented mom, Ashlee. Laura grew up in central Florida and visited Disney World as often as possible while growing up.
